PBS Continues to Make Learning Fun with Sid the Science

As someone who grew up in the 80’s, watched and loved a variety of educational shows on PBS (Mister Rogers Neighborhood, The Electric Company, Reading Rainbow, Sesame Street and 3-2-1-Contact rounding out my top 5). I jumped at the chance to get an opportunity to watch one of their newer series from The Jim Henson Company; “Sid the Science Kid

“Sid The Science Kid” is this new educational series using different ways encourage exploration, discovery and science readiness among preschoolers. The show uses an in-school setting, a child’s natural curiosity, music and humor to get kids interested and involved in a science curriculum.

Joining Sid are his friends on his scientific adventures at home and school are May, Gerald, and Gabriela; his teacher Susie; Philbert his dog; Grandma; Mom; Dad and Zeke, Sid's baby brother.

Whether it’s how rain clouds form or why a banana gets mushy, this program allows parents to create a dialogue with children, motivate them to learn and create confidence within themselves as they find out that science is meaningful and relevant to everyday life.

I truly believe this show is phenomenal; it has been designed to support learning by showing children that there is science all around us and teaching them that there is a reason for why things happen.
