#FiOSNY: 4 Ways to Creatively Use Technology This Summer

I love when my boys are unplugged during the summer. It gives us time to go back to the basics, but frankly, technology plays such an integral part of our daily lives that we use it when we want to take a break from our outdoor activities.

One of the things that I love about technology is its effectiveness as a tool to simplify our hectic lives.

In the hot summer months, I find technology to be the best tool I can use to beat the heat and humidity and still instilling a healthy tech-life balance for them.

On the days where the humidity is simply too much to handle, we often stay indoors and beat the heat by taking part in one or more of these four activities.

  1. Cooking. Since deciding to change our eating habits, searching the web for creative and tasty meatless meals is something everyone has a say in.
  2. Crafting. Keeping the boys occupied on those hot, and humid days can be a challenge, so I enlist the help of homeschooling parents, Pinterest and YouTube to entertain my kids who love to paint, and make up stories and characters with their creations.
  3. Reading. Reading is a favorite pastime in our home. We visit library and bookstores often, and each have a corner in our home to read our favorite books. We love to both read and hear our favorite books at home and am delighted to be able to use a reading app like Epic! that provides thousands of titles for their age and interests.
  4. Movie Nights. Family movie night is something we all look forward to at the end of every week. Having access to thousands of movies and shows OnDemand allows for everyone in our family to have a chance at enjoying our favorite genres.

All this has been made easy for us by having the fastest and most reliable internet connection. For fourteen years now, we have been able to get the best-uninterrupted service hands down.

And if you aren’t a Verizon FiOS customer and would like to be one, first find out if service is available in your area, then sign up for service that best suits your needs.
