5 Ways to Survive Your Next Road Trip

5 Ways to Survive Your Next Road Trip

The summer is fast approaching which means road trip season is upon us. We love road trips and always manage to take frequent trips with the boys during the summer months, so why not make the minutes or hours you’ll driving as pleasant as possible by keeping your car in order.

Here are some of my go-to tips for getting your car road trip ready.

  1. Clean it out! Start by giving your car a good thorough cleaning. Getting in and finally vacuuming the Cheerios and cracker crumbs in between the seats along with tossing out broken crayons and empty wrappers.

  2. Keep only the basics. Keeping an organized car means keeping only what belongs. Be intentional about what stays and what goes. We have a backseat organizer that allows my kids to limit what they can bring.

  3. Always keep must-have items handy. We keep the following items in the car:

    • Wipes

    • Books

    • toys

    • First aid

    • Paper towels

    • drinks

    • Snacks

    • Small trash bin

  4. Clean out the trunk. The trunk tends to become the dumping ground for most car owners simply because if we don’t see it, it doesn’t exist. But, it can easily become a cluttered inconvenient mess as clean up may end up taking more time out of your day than expected. So give it a good cleaning and only keep essentials in there like a portable battery charger, and extra clothes for the kiddos, if need be.

My rule for keeping the car clean and organized at all times to my boys is simple; clean up after yourself, and whatever you bring in, must come back out.
